COAL CITY — A five-alarm fire engulfed a Coal City warehouse Wednesday night and continued to burn into the morning.

According to Nick Doerfler, spokesperson for the Coal City Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched just before midnight Wednesday to 235 E. Oak Street after a passerby called in the blaze.

A five-alarm was called with two specials, Doerfler said, and crews took a defensive approach.

There are no injuries reported and as of Thursday morning it was still an active scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
