On March 13, Joliet Junior College Workforce Development and Grundy Workforce Services connected job seekers with 24 local companies interested in recruiting quality candidates.
Employers represented high-growth industries such as health care, transportation/warehouse/logistics, financial, food service, and entertainment/recreation.
“The turnout of employers participating in this event was fantastic, it definitely confirms that there are available positions within our area for qualified job seekers,” said Melissa Pilch, Workforce Development coordinator.
Job fairs are a great way to stand out from other candidates by coming professionally dressed, having a good resume and effectively communicating skills and experience.
An in-person contact with a company recruiter is an advantage to merely submitting an application online.

Several free job-search readiness workshops are offered on a monthly basis to better prepare job seekers when seeking employment.
In April, the office will host two new workshops, including “Why Should We Hire You,” scheduled for 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 9, and “Exploring Illinois WorkNet” at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 16.
