Robert R. Keech

Mr. Robert R. Keech, 85, of Morris, Ill., passed away peacefully March 22, 2013, at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home.

Born May 10, 1927, in Lansing, Mich., the son of Raymond and Mary (Sparling) Keech, he graduated from Morris High School in 1945. Upon graduation from high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy.

Robert married the former Audrey Jacobson on Oct. 15, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris. Robert owned and operated Keech Transfer for many years. After the sale of his business, in 1967, he went to work for Consolidated Freightways until his retirement in 1989.

He enjoyed traveling, photography, collecting toy trucks, and spending time with his family.

He was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris, the American Legion and the Morris Camera Club.

Mr. Keech is survived by Audrey, his wife of 63 years; their children, Stephen (Tanya) of Morris, Scott (Betty) of Monroe, Mich., and Cindy (Frank Beebe) of Allenspark, Colo.  Also, surviving are four grandchildren, Andrea (Tom) Castle, Matthew Keech, Captain Shea Keech, and Laura (Matthew) Basham; and two great-grandchildren, Allison and Haley Castle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris. Funeral services will be held at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 25, with Pastor Patrick Lohse officiating.  Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery.

Military honors will be provided by the Morris color Guard.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
