The first annual Morris Triathlon will be held Sept. 7 and will benefit Special Connections of Grundy County and the Morris Community YMCA.
Terri Rosendale, a personal trainer and one of the events co-founders, said planning the event has been an exciting challenge.
“We had no idea what was involved,” Rosendale said. “But it’s definitely fun.”
The triathlon will consist of running, biking and kayaking. Participants can do the entire race, or tackle one event as part of a team.
Rosendale said many might be daunted by the word triathlon, but that it isn’t as tough as you might think.
“A lot of people don’t like triathlons because they’re afraid they can’t do it,” Rosendale said. “But this is very doable.”
Registration and volunteer opportunities will be available soon.
