JOLIET, Ill. — Mrs. Gladys G. Perino, 90, of Joliet, Ill., departed this world on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, after a lingering illness.

Mrs. Perino is survived by her loving children, daughter Sharon (Sam Roe) Ryan and son Michael (Karen) Perino; three grandchildren, Shauna (Adam) Gregg, Michael (Becky) Perino, and Melissa Perino; three great-grandchildren, Rachael Perino, Alexander Gregg, and Dashiell Gregg; one brother, James (Lee) Johnson, and beloved sister-in-law, Betty Johnson. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and her special friend, Mary Ann Gregorich.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 23 years, Andrew “Duke” Perino (1968); a special grandson, Robert Andrew “Baby Bobby Angel” Perino (2003); her parents, Lizzie and Granville Johnson; brothers Earnest (Minnie) Johnson, Clyde (Dorothy) Johnson, Everett (Christine) Johnson, and Calvin Johnson, as well as three brothers in infancy; and several nephews and one niece.

She was a loving wife, mother and homemaker who influenced her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren through the unconditional love and the continuous support she shared with each of them. Gladys was a caring, thoughtful and special person. Everyone who met her loved her.

Her legacy will be carried on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and future generations.

Family will receive friends at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood, Ill., from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 1.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the funeral home, with Pastor Andrea Boggs officiating. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Wilmington, Ill.

The family would like to thank the staff at Rosewood Care Center for the loving and devoted care they provided and the special friendships she formed while at Rosewood.

Also, they wish to express gratitude to the VITAS/Joliet Hospice Team for their care.
