Beth Craig

JOLIET, Ill. — Mrs. Beth Roseanne (Conley Berner) Craig, 93, of Joliet, Ill., passed away on March 17, 2013, from Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born on March 19, 1919, Beth was the daughter of Mabel C. (Huston) Conley and Edward P Conley. Born and raised in Morris, Ill., she graduated from Morris High School in 1938. She moved to Joliet in 1953.

Her interests were her family and her community. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and a real estate agent in Joliet from 1967 until her 80th birthday in 1999. She was very active in several organizations, including Daughters of the American Revolution (past Regent), Kings Daughter’s (Silver Cross Hospital Auxiliary), and Newcomer’s Club. A bridge enthusiast, she played several times a week into her 90’s.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, John R “Jack” Berner, who she married March 18, 1943; her second husband, Dr. Dale E. Craig, whom she married Dec. 25, 1953; and her three brothers, Edward W. “Ted” Conley, Clinton F. Merrill, and Enos Merrill.

Survivors include her two daughters, Barbara (Louis) L. (Berner Craig) Marello of Waukegan, Ill., and Toni A. (Craig) MacCabe of San Diego, Calif.; five grandchildren, Christopher (Corinne) C. Marello of Vail, Colo., Douglas (Andrea) T. Marello of Chicago, Ill., Lauren (James) L. (Marello) LoMonaco of Gurnee, Ill., Sean C. MacCabe of San Diego, Calif., and Alana D. MacCabe of San Diego, Calif.: three great-grandchildren, Noelle and Louis LoMonaco and Rowan Marello; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, at First Presbyterian Church, Joliet, Ill.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. at the church, and there will be a casual luncheon after the service at the church.
