NEWARK, Ill. — Mrs. Lois May Weeks, 88, of rural Newark, Ill., died Saturday, April 6, 2013, at the Tillers in Oswego.
Lois was born Feb. 22, 1925, near Plattville, Ill., to John & Grace (Bedford) O’Brien. She married William Enger Weeks on Sept. 4, 1942, in St. Louis, Mo. William passed Sept. 26, 1993.
Mrs. Weeks was a member of the Helmar Lutheran Church and Ladies Aid. She partnered with her husband and her son farming west of Helmar.
She is survived by her two sons, William Weeks of rural Newark, and Steven (Beverley) Weeks of Oswego, Ill.; two grandchildren, Shane Weeks of Oswego, and Mariel (the Rev. Mark) Hill of Garland, Texas; three great-grandchildren, Abagail Hill, Andrew Hill, and Riley Hill; and a sister in-law, Frances O’Brien of Morris.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; two brothers, Earl O’Brien and Walter O’Brien; and two sisters, Evelyn Bradler and Vivian Stinsen.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 11, with a funeral service at noon at the Helmar Lutheran Church. Her grandson, Pastor Mark Hill, will officiate. Interment will be at the Helmar Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mark Mathre, Tom Mathre, Larry Peterson, Bruce Devick, John O’Brien and Karl Michaelson.
