Karen M. Bottomley

Mrs. Ronald (Karen M.) Bottomley, 70, of Morris, Ill., passed away very unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 10, 2013, in Morris Hospital.

Born July 17, 1942, in Mendota, Ill., the daughter of Ronald and Pearl Tentler McEwan, she received her education in the Mendota schools and graduated from Mendota High School with the Class of 1960.

She married the love of her life and apple of her eye, Ronald “Ron” Bottomley on Oct. 12, 1991, in the First Christian Church in Morris.

With her husband, she loved to travel. They spent their winters in Gulf Shores, Ala.

Karen loved to shop. She enjoyed the time that she spent visiting with her many friends and family, and treasured those special moments that come with being a grandmother.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Morris.

Surviving is her loving husband of over 21 years, Ron, and their five children, Julie and her husband, Ed Hansen, and Susan and her husband, Jerry White of Morris; Rhonda and her husband, Mike Swaim of Huntsville, Ala.; Pam Bottomley of Franklin, Pa., and Jim Bottomley of Huntsville, Ala.; eight grandchildren, Emily and Zach Hansen, Mikayla and Gabe White, Jon and Michelle Swaim, and Samantha and Joanie Bottomley; along with several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 12, at U. C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home Ltd., 301 W. Washington St., Morris. Funeral  service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 13, in the First Presbyterian Church, 200 E. Jackson St., Morris, with the Rev. Dr. Roy C. Backus officiating. Cremation rites will follow at the Schultz Crematory in Streator, Ill.

Private family inurnment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.

Preferred forms of remembrance would be memorial gifts in Karen’s memory directed to the Morris Community Volunteer Hospice or First Presbyterian Church.
