To the Editor:
With the recent defeat in the Senate on expanding background checks on gun buyers, it’s interesting to note that a Fox News poll showed that 82 percent of the public believed that it was a valid thing to do.
The bill had nothing in it about restrictions to owning a gun, only a better effort to keep them out of the wrong hands before purchase.
The final vote was 54-46 in favor of better background checks... and it was defeated. This is what we have working for us in Washington these days. Even simple math doesn’t work there anymore.
Maybe we should have stronger background checks on our Washington politicians.
