BRIEFS: Genealogy Guild will meet in Ottawa

OTTAWA – The La Salle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, at the Guild library, 115 West Glover St., Ottawa.

Guest speaker will be Judy Rosengren of Rural Serena. Her topic will be Roots and Wings, an upbeat program of “where we’ve come from and how that affects the future that we allow ourselves to be part of.”

She and her husband, Randy, are parents of four grown children and grandparents of 10. Mrs.Rosengren is a farm wife, a retired teacher, a lifelong educator, lifelong learner, and an active member in various organizations in the community. She has a passion for travel and has visited 35 countries and six continents.

During her program, she will share segments of differences and similarities of the cultures of these countries and how that influences our lives in today’s world.

Elvis’ son will perform a concert in Streator

STREATOR – Streator Firefighters Local 56 will have its 26th annual Country Music Concert at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, in the Streator High School Auditorium.

Aaron Elvis Presley Jr., the real son of Elvis Presley, will be performing along with the Dan Everhart Band.
