Area Roundup: GSW baseball beats Tri-Point

The Gardner-South Wilmington softball team beat Tri-Point in a River Valley Conference game on Wednesday, winning by a score of 19-5 in five innings.

Abby Horrie and Emily Foley combined for the pitching victory.

At the plate, Lexi Posing was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI and Foley was also 2-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and three RBI.

Additionally, Maranda Residori and Becca Bernardy each had three hits and Sophie Barna two.

“I was happy with how the girls came out and put up runs early,” GSW coach Jon Posing said. “That makes it pretty difficult for teams to continue to fight.”



GSW 6,

Tri-Point 4

Mike Goodwin was the winning pitcher. He went all seven innings allowing eight hits and four walks while striking out 12.

At the plate, Kaiden Hibler had two hits and Goodwin one hit and two RBI.

“The kids came out strong, scoring in the first inning and Mike pitched another quality game,” GSW coach Todd Grieff said.

In an earlier game against Reed-Custer, GSW won 2-1 in nine innings and lost 13-8 in the nightcap.

In the first game against the Comets, Goodwin was the winning pitcher, as well. He went all nine innings allowing nine hits and four walks while striking out four.

Goodwin also had two hits at the plate. Anthony Garrett homered.

In the second game against R-C, Chris Lardi had three hits and four RBI while Cody Harvey, Mike Goodwin and Jeremy Kunz had two hits each.


Minooka 5,

Romeoville 2

The Indians won behind the pitching of Dominick Matrisciano and Josh Mitchell.

At the plate, Tyler Desmarias, Max Brozovich and Brennen Polcyn each had two singles.

In the sophomore game, Minooka won 13-1 in five innings.

Joe Butler, Austin Thompson and Brandon Stang combined for the pitching victory.

At the plate, Butler had a double and two singles, Jake Nill had three singles, Gavin Pfieffer two singles and Andrew Spreitzer two doubles.

In the freshman game, Minooka won 6-5 behind the pitching of Brandon Rossiter.

Nick Stallion had a hit and two RBI for the Indians.


Plano 8,

Coal City 7

Austin McLuckie allowed two runs on five hits while pitching in relief.

Brad Littleton had two doubles on offense while Dylan Hakey had two hits and two runs scored. Nate Chapman also doubled.




Casey’s General Store 6,

Lion’s Club 5

Jack Kennedy hit a three-run homer for Casey’s to highlight the game. Dylan Graziano and Tyler Selvy both had hits, as well.

Bryce Barnes struck out four to record the save on the mound.

For the Lion’s Club, Brandon Raske had a two-run home run while Camden Petrusich and Conner Gregorec each doubled.

Kurtis Laite had two hits while Jonathon Schumacher added on single.

Dominick D’Aguanno pitched and got the win.

Jeffrey Sorich had a hit for McDonalds.

Matteo Pullara and Jake Moncrief had a hit each and scored a run for Rush Hour. 

Mickey Fischer also pitched a scoreless inning.

Trey Swiderski pitched well for Creamery and Ethan Easter had a hit.

Tyler Sutherland had a double and two RBI at the plate.

 Bryice harris, Seth Akinson and Sutherland combined for the pitching win.

Cody Cave had three hits and three runs scored. Resar had both RBI.
