Eleven take part in music festival

MCHS students performed in concert at Streamwood

MINOOKA – Minooka Community High School had 11 band students participated in the 84th Annual Fox Valley Music Festival at Streamwood High School on April 28-29, 2013.

Students were selected through a nomination process to perform in the festival honor band. Participating MCHS students performed a concert with students from 17 other schools across the western suburbs in this music conference.

MCHS participants included:

• Kayla Bachar, senior, flute

• Erin Mathewson, junior, oboe

• Anna Garza, junior, bassoon

• Sarah Hoy, senior, clarinet

• Sarah Stepanek, junior, clarinet

• Eric Strand, sophomore, clarinet

• Priya Bond, senior, tenor sax

• Megan Chocholek, senior, bari sax

• Jason Viehman, sophomore, horn

• Robert Herlihy, senior, trombone

• Jack Russell, sophomore, tuba

MCHS holds its spring concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 9, in the Central Campus Performing Arts Center. The concert will feature the Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Symphony and Wind Ensemble.

The Marching Indians will perform at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, in the annual Memorial Day Parade in Minooka.

The MCHS Band Program is under the direction of Mr. Rick Anderson and Mrs. Gina Wych.
