NEWS BRIEFS: Tracks in Coal City closed for rebuild

COAL CITY — The Illinois 113-BNSF Railway Company grade crossing in Coal City will be closed beginning Sunday, May 12, for approximately 10 days to allow the BNSF Railway Company to reconstruct their crossing.

Detour routes will be posted, with eastbound Illinois 113 traffic being diverted south on Illinois 47 to Interstate 55 and then back north on I-55 to Illinois 113. Westbound traffic will proceed south on Interstate 55 to Illinois 47 and then north on Illinois 47 back to Illinois 113.

Motorists are urged to use caution and expect some delays while traveling on the detour route.
Elected JJC trustees take their seats

JOLIET — Official consolidated election results from the April 9 election show the three winners in the JJC Board of Trustees race to be: • Andrew “Andy” Mihelich, 19,736 votes • Barbara K. Adams, 18,357 votes • Tina Markley, 17,797 votes

Mihelich, Adams and Markley were sworn in at a special JJC Board meeting on Monday, May 6.

Following are the official vote totals for the remaining candidates:

• Daniel O’Connell, 17,350 votes • Diane M. Harris, 16,199 votes • Theresa A. Berkey, 16,135 votes • Brad Baber, 14,136 votes • Douglas Muir, 10,189 votes • Jesse L. Maggitt, 5,157 votes
