MINOOKA — A brush fire in Minooka Tuesday morning produced a large cloud of smoke, but did not cause damage because firefighters quickly controlled it.
The fire, located near the intersection of Cemetery Road and Tabler Road, burned over several acres of marsh reeds and land.
The Minooka Fire Protection District responded around 11 a.m. and worked to ensure the fire did not jump across the road into a larger open area, according to a statement by Fire Chief Al Yancey.
It was quickly under control, but firefighters remained on the scene for an hour and a half extinguishing hot spots.
Channahon, Coal City and Morris fire districts assisted.
No one was injured and no structures were damaged.
