The Activities Committee at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Morris invites the community to a Mother-Daughter Banquet and Style Show on Saturday, May 11, at 1 p.m.

UMW will host salad luncheon in Braceville
BRACEVILLE — The Methodist Women of the Braceville United Meth-odist Church are hosting a salad luncheon on Wednesday, May 15.
Held at the church, at 106 W Gould St., Braceville, lunch will be served from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The cost per person is $7; preschool children eat for free. Carry outs will be available.

Midewin Prairie will be detailed at breakfast
Wendy Tresowthick from Midewin National Tall-grass Prairie will share information on the vast treasures to be enjoyed at the prairie.
Her presentation will take place when the Joliet Area Christian Women gather for breakfast at Joliet Country Club, 1009 Spencer Road Joliet, on Wednesday, May 15.
The speaker during the meeting, which runs from 9:30 to 11 a.m., will be Anitra Spangler from Manteno. Spangler is an active farm wife and mother of four who, after a good childhood, married into a large farming operation.
She will share how she learned that, with God’s love, we can survive anything in her talk “Dead Ends are Only Bends in the Road!”
A free nursery will be provided off site during the meeting. The cost for breakfast is $12, inclusive.

Men’s Catechism Circle next meets on May 20
PLAINFIELD — All men are encourged to attend the monthly Men’s Catechism Circle meeting in the St. Mary Immaculate Parish Library.
Participants study the “Catechism of the Catholic Church” and receive a practical teaching on living out our faith.
The group meets the third Monday of every month at 7:00 p.m. The next meeting is Monday, May 20.

Memorial Day Mass to be in cemetery
To celebrate Memorial Day, St. Mary Immaculate Parish will celebrate morning Mass at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27, at the St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, 1519 N. Naperville/Plainfield Road, Plainfield.
Everyone is invited to bring a lawn chair.
If there is inclement weather, Mass will take place at the Church at 9 a.m. Please note there will NOT be a 7:30 a.m. morning Mass this day.

‘Basement Sale’ slated for end of this month

Mazon Methodists to host 5K event June 1
MAZON — The 3rd annual Mazon United Methodist 5K Run/Walk will be held on June 1.
Race-day registration, and pre-registered entrant pick-up, will begin at 7:30 a.m. under the pavilion at the Mazon City Park.
The race will start at 9 a.m. on Seneca Street in Mazon and follow a well-marked, certified course.
Pre-registration is available at www.active.com, or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org for an entry form. (Pre-registration guarantees you a T-shirt.)
Trophies will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers, and medals will go to the top three in each age/gender category.
In addition, church mugs will be given to the trophy winners and first-place medal winners.
Procession will mark Corpus Christi June 2
On Sunday, June 2, St. Mary Immaculate Parish will celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi with a Eucharistic Procession following the 12:15 p.m. Mass.
Eucharistic processions have been a principal feature and tradition of the feast’s celebration by the faithful for over 700 years.
This year on the Feast of Corpus Christi, the church will mark the 11-year Anniversary of Eucharistic Adoration at St. Mary Immaculate Parish.

Healing Service will follow Mass June 2
On Sunday, June 2, at 1:30pm, immediately following the 12:15 p.m Mass, a Healing Prayer Service will be held in St. Mary Immaculate Church.
After a short scripture reading and prayer, each individual will be offered the Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick.

Letter writing effort planned for June 9
Nothing lifts spirits like a letter from home.
Write to our military men and women from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday, June 9, in the gym at St. Mary Immaculate Parish in Plainfield.
Church members will also be collecting the troops’ most-needed items, including Slim Jims; jelly (32-ounce or less; no glass containers); mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup (individual packets); crackers (one-pound box or less); toilet paper; cereal bars; gently used magazines/books; foot powder (20 ounce or less), body wash (18 ounce or less), microwave popcorn, anti-itch and antibiotic creams, and greeting cards.
Drop your donations into the collection box in the Commons the June 8-9 weekend.
