Mathletes seventh in Geometry at State

Finish best among area teams in all events at ICTM contest

The Morris Mathletes competed at the ICTM State Math Contest on Saturday, May 4, at the University of Illinois in Champaign.  The Geometry Team, according to a release from the Illinois Council of Teachers of Mathematics, finished in seventh place.

That team, according to information from Morris Community High School, included Ian Bashor, Chloe Castelluccio, Ricardo Del Toro, Jiasui Ding, Bridget Gile, and Adam Shay.

In other categories, according to the ICTM release, Morris Mathletes finished 11th in the Frosh-Soph Relay 1; 12th in both Algebra 1 and the Junior-Senior 2-Person team event; 13th in the Frosh-Soph 8-Person team event;  14th in Frosh-Soph Relay 2; 16th in both Pre-Calculus and the Frost-Soph 2-Person team event; 19th in the Oral Presentation; 21st in the Calculator team event; and 22nd in Algebra 2.

Other area schools competing included Minooka High, which finished 27th in Oral Presentation, 28th in the Calculator team event, and 48th in Algebra 1.

Gardner-South Wilmington was 21st in the Frosh-Soph 8-Person team event and 41st in Algebra 1.

Seneca was 17th in the Junior-Senior 2-Person team event, 19th in the Junior-Senior 8-Person team event, and 33rd in Algebra 2.
