Irvin J. Lafferty

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mr. Irvin J. Lafferty passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013, at his home in Coal City, Ill. He was born in Coal City on June 27, 1917, to the late Alex and Kate Lafferty. 

Irvin was a member of the Knights of Columbus and Assumption Catholic Church. He was formerly employed at  Northern Illinois Coal and Caterpillar in Joliet. He enjoyed fishing, spending time with his family, drawing and coloring, his toy train collection, and also carpentry work. 

He is survived by three daughters, Catherine (Richard) Yanketis of Gardner, Ill., Ann Lafferty of Coal City, Ill., and Cheryl Lafferty of Incline Village, Reno, Nev.; three grandchildren, Reno (Tina) Vignocchi of Coal City, Rena Vignocchi of Gardner, and Gina Vignocchi of Reddick: seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a niece, Linda Stone.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Agnita Lafferty; a brother, Jim (Maxine) Lafferty; and his special friend, Mildred (Dolly) Puleo. 

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 22, from Ferrari Funeral Services in Coal City at 9:30 a.m. to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Father Robert Noesen will officiate, with interment in Mt. Olivet Cemetery .

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Drive, Coal City.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Vignocchi, Andrew Vignocchi, Marty Joyce, Mark Small, Adam Harrington, Richard Marcotte, and Brian Manzello
