Premier Academy had its annual senior celebration ceremony in its new facility last month.

On May 22, 24 of 35 students went through the ceremony at the new school building at 7700 Ashley Road.

“It was our first big event in our new gymnasium,” said Lauren Vitko, public relations coordinator. “It went really well. We had approximately 125 guests to support the seniors.”

The senior’ final grades are turned into their home schools and their districts issue their actual graduation diploma. On May 22, they received a certificate of completion from Premier Academy.

Premier is a grant-funded alternative school program of the Grundy/Kendall Regional Office of Education. They moved into their Ashley Road location from a strip mall on Illinois 47 in January.

A senior slideshow was presented at the ceremony as well as speeches. Senior Juliet Davidson was one of the speakers who gave a heartfelt speech thanking Premier for all of their help.

“Our seniors have made great strides in committing to their educations and following through with its completion,” said Laura Semanic, senior classroom teacher, during the ceremony. “The staff at Premier want to wish all of you the best in your quest in becoming all that we here at Premier Academy believe you can achieve.”

Refreshments were provided by the Morris Woman’s Club for the second year in a row.

“We thank the Morris Woman’s Club for their continued support of our program,” said Vitko.
