Robert John Maly

Mr. Robert John Maly, 65, of Morris and formerly Coal City, passed away Sunday evening, June 9, 2013 at Walnut Grove Village in Morris.

Born Sept. 26, 1947 in Joliet, Robert was a son of the late Marcus and Eva Mae Orolin-Maly. He was raised in South Wilmington until moving to Coal City at the age of 2. Robert graduated from Coal City High School with the class of 1965, and continued on to Roosevelt University in Chicago, where he earned a bachelor's degree in English Literature.

Robert  was employed by Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, where he was also a member.

In his free time, Robert enjoyed going to movies, theater, watching classic movies, reading and visiting with friends.

Survivors include cousins, Jane (Steve) Welch of Geneseo and John (Barbara) Orolin of North Carolina, as well as numerous others. Robert was also blessed with several wonderful friends, including Fr. Mike Pennock, who had a profound affect on his life.     

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus and Eva Mae Mally, and one brother, George Maly.     

The family will receive friends at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church, 245 South Kankakee St. in Coal City, from 9 a.m. Friday June 14, 2013 until the time of funeral service at 10 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with Rev. Ed Howe, CR officiating.

Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Catholic Cemetery, Braidwood.     

Preferred memorial may be made as gifts in Robert's memory to a charity of the donor's choosing.
