Ann Elizabeth Hoffman

ESSEX, Ill. — Mrs. Ann Elizabeth Hoffman, 79, of Essex, Ill., late of Harvest View in Herscher, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Monday, June 10, 2013 at Presence St. Mary’s Hospital in Kankakee, Ill.

She was born Nov. 20, 1933 in Campus, Ill., to the late Dennis “Ed” and Teresa “Tess” (Farley) Cuddy. Ann was a graduate of Reddick High School. She married George Orland Hoffman on Sept. 1, 1956 in Campus. They loved to dance and enjoyed many hours of ballroom dancing together.

Ann was very proud of her grandchildren and her “old stone house” where she and her husband made their home since 1956. She thoroughly enjoyed gazing at the beautiful sunsets in the area.

She was a member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church and the CCW in Essex.

Survivors include two sons and one daughter, Craig (Jane) Hoffman of Bonfield, Ill., Bill (Polly) Hoffman of Gardner, Ill., and VaLinda (Jeff) King of Reddick, Ill.; eight grandchildren, Danielle King, Mitch, Megan, Landon and Jase Hoffman, Dale (Bridget) Hoffman and Nolan and Lane Hoffman; four great-grandchildren, George Miles, Elsie, Audrey and Evalyn Hoffman; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on July 21, 2003; two brothers, Peter Cuddy and Edward Cuddy; and three sisters, Mary Calvert, Genevieve Derkus and Theresa Sippel.

Funeral services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday, June 14, 2013 from the R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd., Braidwood Chapel, to the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Essex for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Rev. Show Reddy Allam will officiate.

Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Campus, Ill.

The pallbearers will be Dale Hoffman, Mitch Hoffman, Landon Hoffman, Jase Hoffman, Nolan Hoffman, Lane Hoffman, Megan Hoffman and Danielle King.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 13, at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home in Braidwood.

Memorial gifts in her name may be directed to St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church or to a fund or charity of the donor’s choice.
