Fredrick Murphey

COAL CITY, Ill. — Mr. Fredrick “Freddie” Murphey, 66, of Reedsport, Ore., and formerly of Coal City, Ill., passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

He was born March 26, 1947, in North Bend, Ore., to the late Fred and Marion Murphey.

Fred was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, and wine making, and who was a big believer in shortcuts. He loved his two dogs, Pal and Junior.

He was employed by Caterpillar for over 35 years, until his retirement in 2001. Upon retirement, he moved to Reedsport, Ore., where he lived for the past 12 years.

Mr. Murphey  is survived by eight children, Kelly Tondini, Tracy Evans, Pat Murphey, Erin Burch, Ryan Murphey, Tim (Amy) Murphey, Shannon (Brandon) Male, and Shane Murphey; 12 grandchildren; seven siblings, Carol (Fred) Sporar, Karen Keigher, D.J. (Rika) Lpikas, Wesley Murphey, Mary Murphey, James Murphey, and Audrey Murphey; and numerous aunts and uncles in Reedsport, Ore.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepmother, Ginny.

Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 24, in The Ferrari Funeral Chapel, located at the corner of Spring Road and Ferrari Drive in Coal City. Pastor Caleb Counterman will officiate, with interment in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Morris, Ill.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 23, at Ferrari Funeral Services, 1044 Ferrari Dr., Coal City.

Freddie’s children will be pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for later disbursement to local charities.
