A fire that began in the engine compartment of a motor home caused damage to a Schubert Drive residence.

A fire caused an estimated $35,000 in damages Monday afternoon in Morris.

It began in the engine compartment of a motor home, which was parked in a driveway on the 1700 block of Schubert Drive, and spread to the house.

The motor home sustained most of the damages.

According to Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District Chief Tracey Steffes, the blaze caused $25,000 worth of damage to the motor home and $10,000 to the structure.

The on-shift duty crew quickly put out the fire and no assistance from other departments was required, Steffes said.
