Marie A. Kruger

KINSMAN, Ill. — Mrs. Marie A. Kruger, 71, passed away June 23, 2013, at her daughter’s home in Phoenix, Ariz.

Born Sept. 27, 1941, in Ottawa, Ill., to Earl J. and Irene S. (Walker) Maier of Seneca, Ill., she was a 1959 graduate of Seneca Township High School. Marie was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother, beloved and respected by her family and friends.

She actively served the Sacred Heart Parish of Kinsman, Ill., as a first communion CCD teacher. In addition to helping her husband manage the Kinsman division of Stockdale Fertilizer, she also served on the Mazon-Verona-Kinsman School District Board and was the village clerk for the village of Kinsman for many years.

After retiring and moving with her husband and mother to Sun Lakes, Ariz., she continued to serve her neighbors and community in any way she could. She especially loved to sew and made time to do so for many of the people she cared about in Sun Lakes.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Glenn E. Kruger of Sun Lakes, Ariz.;  a son, Michael (Nancy) Kruger of Waxahachie, Texas; daughters Laura (Allen) Beckmann of Bartelso, Ill., Julia Blair of Phoenix, Ariz., and Michelle (Mike) Hayes of Decatur, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and a brother, Thomas Maier of Seneca.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Michael (Mary Phelan) Kruger. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 27, at St. Steven’s Catholic Church, 24827 S. Dobson Road, Sun Lakes, Ariz., 85248. Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ransom, Ill.
