Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity will host the 10th annual Randy Hancock Memorial Golf Outing on Monday, July 22, at Morris Country Club.
Proceeds from the event will help construct house #10 for partner family Rey Mercado and his daughters, Willow and Marina, of Morris. Their home is under construction in the 900 block of North Street in Morris.
Kevin Brown, of Brown Bear Painting; Rob Martin of Buchanan, Martin & Associates; and Scott Shannon of Standard Bank, are serving as co-chairs for the event, which will follow a scramble format. The day will open with registration and breakfast from 7:00 to 8:30 a.m. A shotgun start for golf will take place at 8:30 a.m.
Golf registration is $125 and includes breakfast, lunch, bag drop, cart, beverages on the course, and prizes. Non-golfers are encouraged to come for lunch and awards, which will begin at 1:30 p.m. The cost for lunch is $25.
Participants are encouraged to register by contacting Habitat at (815) 942-1452 or email@example.com. July 12 is the preferred registration deadline.
The three chairmen are pleased to have secured sponsorships from several area businesses and are now soliciting donations of raffle prizes, such as tickets to sporting events, gift certificates for restaurants and services, electronics, as well as themed baskets. More information, including an event brochure, is available at www.grundy3rivershabitat.org.
Habitat for Humanity constructs simple, decent homes for low-income, working families who are unable to qualify for a conventional home loan. “Partner families,” as they are called, work alongside volunteers to build the home, contributing 400 hours of “sweat equity.”
Homes are sold with a down payment and affordable no-interest mortgage.
Grundy-Three Rivers Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1996 as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.
The organization’s annual golf outing is named in memory of its visionary founder, Randy Hancock, who passed away unexpectedly in 2004.
