Thomas J. Kirchhoff

Mr. Thomas J. “Tommy” Kirchhoff, 35, of Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly Thursday, July 4, 2013, at Morris Hospital.

Born Nov. 9, 1977, in Ottawa, Ill., he is the son of William and Diana (Spencer) Kirchhoff. Tom lived a comfortable life with his parents at his home in Morris. Tom participated in activities at Trinity Services Inc.

Tom went on summer vacations with the family and visited his grandmother in Florida.  He loved car rides and especially enjoyed going out to eat at a restaurant. Tom had several rocking chairs, which were routinely repaired for broken springs and bolts. He enjoyed watching noisy game shows and pretty girls singing on the television.

Tom had an infectious laugh when he was happy. Lights and fans could always be found on in unoccupied rooms. Tom was well known at the grocery store, where he always got a cookie from the bakery girls. Tom loved Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, and was constantly removing ornaments from the Christmas tree.

Tom is survived by his parents, William and Diana Kirchhoff; his sister, Kathryn (Daniel) Elbert; his brother, James Kirchhoff; and his grandmother, Lillian Kirchhoff.  

Tom was preceded in death by his grandfather, Herbert Kirchhoff; and his grandparents, Vincent and Dollie Spencer.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 12, at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home in Morris. Visitation will also be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, July 13, beginning at 10 a.m.

A Celebration of Tommy’s life will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Peace Lutheran, with the Rev. Dr. Chuck Olson officiating. Interment will follow at Sample Cemetery.
