Betty J. Close

Mrs. Betty J. Close, 79, of Morris, Ill., passed away Friday evening, July 12, 2013, at Morris Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 17, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., in Morris, with the Rev. Edward J. Howe, CR officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, at the funeral home.

Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Dwight, Ill., the daughter of Wallace and Margaret “Goldie” Pfeifer, she graduated from Dwight High School.

Betty married Patrick J. Close  on May 5, 1956, and they lived all of their married life in Morris.
She was employed for over 30 years at AT & T in Morris.

Survivors include one daughter, Colleen Sjostrom of Yukon, Okla.; one son, Robert  Close of Morris; four grandchildren, Brent Sjostrom, Erin Lerma  and Ashlyn Sjostrom  all of Yukon, Okla., and Christopher Close of Streator, Ill.; three great-grandchildren, Brayden, Brooklyn and John; one brother, Wallace (Peggy) Pfeifer of Dwight; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Patrick, on May 16, 2003; one granddaughter, Holly Sjostrom; two brothers, Raymond and James Pfeifer; and one sister, Margaret Pfeifer.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.  She loved her dog “Benji,” and enjoyed cooking, doing puzzles, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
