St. Joseph ranked #11 among ‘Best Hospitals’

Up from #15 in U.S. News & World Report

JOLIET, Ill. — Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center has been named once again to the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings of the Best Hospitals.

The Joliet Medical Center moved up to the list to #11 in Illinois from last year’s position at #15.

“We are delighted to rank among the very best in the state. As a matter of fact, being the only hospital in Will County listed among the best hospitals in Illinois and Chicago area really speaks to the level and quality of care we are proud to provide to our patients,” said Beth Hughes, president & CEO, Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center.

“Recognition of excellence from an unbiased third-party expert in rating quality, such as US News, is tremendously gratifying; but moreover, is a testament to our fine physicians and staff whose expertise and compassion make the difference in patients experiencing the best possible outcomes.”

Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center is ranked #11 in Chicago metro area, as well as #11 in the state.
Additionally the medical center was named as high-performing in the following specialties:

• Cancer
• Cardiology & Heart Surgery
• Ear, Nose & Throat
• Gastroenterology & GI Surgery
• Geriatrics
• Gynecology
• Nephrology
• Neurology & Neurosurgery
• Orthopedics
• Pulmonology
• Urology

U.S. News evaluates hospitals in 16 adult specialties. In most specialties, it ranks the nation’s top 50 hospitals and recognizes other high-performing hospitals that provide care at nearly the level of their nationally ranked peers.

“A hospital that emerges from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of,” said Avery Comarow, U.S. News Health Rankings Editor. “Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region’s best.”
