HICKORY HILLS, Ill. — Standard Bank and Trust Co. and its customers have raised $28,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).
Standard Bank worked with the MDA to ensure the fundraising efforts would have a local impact. With this donation, MDA and Standard Bank sent 35 children from Illinois and Indiana neighborhoods to MDA Summer Camp.
MDA Summer Camp is the one week out of the year when the kids are truly surrounded by their peers. The camp organizers make the week as memorable as possible and the children and their families look forward to it all year.
Employees and bank customers donated a total of $21,735.10, coming close to the goal of $28,000. Standard Bank CEO, Larry Kelley, announced the bank would make up the difference, raising the donation to the intended amount.
MDA Executive Director, April Elashik, was elated and stated “You have no idea how much this means to us and to the children. We truly appreciate your support.”
“We are thrilled to donate to MDA and to enable children from our neighborhoods to attend summer camp,” said Michele Madia-Bradley, senior vice president at Standard Bank. “We are grateful for the hard work and generosity of our employees and our customers – we couldn’t do it without them!”
