Dorothy E. Hedenschoug

Mrs. Dorothy E. (Strom) Hedenschoug, 93, of Morris, Ill., and formerly of Braidwood, Ill., passed away peacefully Sunday, July 28, 2013, at Morris Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Chicago on Aug. 17, 1919, to Fred and Adeline (Christiansen) Strom, Dorothy married Robert A. Hedenschoug on Sept. 25, 1942.

She is survived by her son, James (Janis) Hedenschoug of Morris and three grandchildren, Karen Hedenschoug, Dr. Lauren (Jeff) Bates, and Robert J. (Jenn) Hedenschoug.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert A. Hedenschoug; and her son, Robert F. Hedenschoug.

Dorothy retired from Weight Watchers, where she was a lecturer throughout the Chicago area, and she was also an Avon representative.

She was a volunteer at Morris Hospital, which was something she really loved, and she enjoyed knitting, crocheting, bingo and playing cards.

Family and friends always came first with Dorothy. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and she was so proud of what they have accomplished in their lives. Dorothy was a special soul who always had a smile and became a friend to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Funeral services for Dorothy E. Hedenschoug will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home Chapel, 1201 West U.S. 6, at Deerpath Drive, Morris. The Rev. Scott McClellan will officiate.

Visitation will also be Wednesday, from 9 a.m. until the time of services.

Interment will take place privately at a later date at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Morris Hospital Foundation in her name would be appreciated.
