Matthew Marsmaker divides crescent rolls in preparation for making his Pepperoni Roll Ups. A 16-year-old Minooka Community High School student, Matthew recently won three silver medals in the Special Olympics.

Matthew Marsmaker is an exceptional young man.  He is 16 years old and a student at Minooka High School.

He has a lot of different interests.  He likes to cook and recently made Pepperoni Roll Ups and Apple Dumplings.  Both, of which are very delicious.  Besides making these, he also likes to eat.

Sometimes teenagers have to learn to cook or bake out of necessity.  If you are always hungry, you need to learn to make a few things.  It’s the smart thing to do.

Several years ago, Matthew was featured in the Family Table for his Pizza Bread.  You will be relieved to know that it is still one of his favorite things to make for himself and his family.

Recently Matthew participated in the Special Olympics and came home with three silver medals.  He is an excellent swimmer and really proved it at the competition.

Besides cooking, Matthew likes to swim, dance, go 4-wheeling in his yard, and lift weights. He also is a big fan of WWE wrestling.

Besides his mom and dad, Sandy and Kevin, he has two sisters, Natalie and Abbey, and one brother, Nick. He also has a niece, Kami Gregoire, who is very special to him.

Sundays are a special day for Matthew and his dad. Every Sunday, he goes with his dad to check on the heaters at the asphalt plant where his dad works in Romeoville. This is a day he looks forward to. It’s fun to spend time alone with his dad. Of course, they always stop at Dunkin Donuts for donut holes.

He went to his Prom this year with Caitlyn Cox from Seneca.  They went to Pitstick Pavilions in Ottawa and had a fabulous time.  He danced all night and was even able to pick a song.

Matthew is very social. Once you have met him, he knows you for life. No one can be a stranger to Matthew. He’ll pull you right into his world and the things that interest him. He has lived in Morris his entire life and has many, many friends.

His best friend is Christian Shaw. He has been Matthew’s best friend since they were little boys.

All in all, Matthew is a typical teenager. He has many interests, he loves life, and he loves his family. He is a blessing to all who meet him.

Try Matthew’s two recipes.  They are quick to make and really hit the spot when you are hungry.

And since Matthew is a teenager, it is especially important that he remembers, … A good cook always cleans up!
