Woman sues for injuries incurred while house shopping

A woman is suing a homeowner after she was injured while viewing the property that was for sale.

Christine Gentry was looking at a house at 355 Rice Road in South Wilmington with a realtor. While she was going down the porch stairs, she fell due to a handrail giving way, according to the case filed in the Grundy County Circuit Court last month.

Gentry is suing the homeowner, Kyle Stickel, because he allegedly failed to properly secure the handrail, maintain the staircase and to warn people on the premises of the unsafe condition of the staircase.

The case file states Gentry was injured and incurred medical bills, loss of income and has suffered pain, disfigurement, and loss of a normal life.

The case contains two counts and she is asking for a judgment of at least $50,000 for each count.
