MINOOKA, Ill. — Mr. Glenn G. Fatlan, 92, of Minooka, Ill., passed away peacefully at his home, with his family by his side, Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013.
Born March 24, 1921, in Lisbon, Ill., to the late Selma (Hauge) and Gilbert Fatlan, he attended grade school in Lisbon and graduated with the Class of 1939 from Yorkville High School.
Mr. Fatlan was the beloved husband of 67 years to Selma (Alsvig) Fatlan; loving father of Dale Fatlan of Minooka, Ken Fatlan of Minooka, Vern (Marcia) Fatlan of Morris, and Sharon (the late David) Allen of Minooka; dear grandfather of Troy (Melissa) Fatlan, Tonya (Chris) Sandvick, Travis Fatlan, and Tim, Michael and Nicholas Allen; proud great-grandfather of Austin, Alison, Alexis and Alea Fatlan, Teagan Sandvick, Madison, Olivia and Jaxon Allen, and Matthew and Angela Allen; and dearest great-great-grandpa of Mason Allen. He is also survived by his sister, LaVonne Fatlan Hansen of Gardner, Ill..
Preceding him in death were his parents and a son-in-law.
Glenn was a U.S. Army veteran who served during World War II. He retired from Caterpillar Inc. in 1982, after 30 years of service.
He was previously employed by Blockson Chemical and, in his younger years, assisted his father with farming in the Shorewood and Minooka area.
He enjoyed yardwork and was a charter member of the Minooka Bible Church, being involved with the planning and building of the church.
Funeral services for Glenn G. Fatlan will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12, at Minooka Bible Church, 412 N. Wabena Ave., where he will lie in state from 9:30 a.m. until the services begin. Pastor David Jankowski will officiate. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Morris.
Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 11, at Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 1201 West U.S. 6, at Deerpath Dr., Morris.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to the Minooka Bible Church would be appreciated.
