Felony cases resolved in circuit court

Grundy County State’s Attorney Jason Helland recently released the following felony dispositions.

Ming Chang, 42, of Conshohocken, Penn., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of more than 30 grams, but less than 500 grams, of cannabis, a Class 4 felony, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. Chang was ordered to pay a fine of $6,200 and a mandatory $500 drug assessment.

Fu Ming Chen, 54, of Philadelphia, Penn., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of more than 30 grams, but less than 500 grams, of cannabis, a Class 4 felony, and was sentenced to 180 days in jail. Chen was ordered to pay a fine of $6,200 and a mandatory $500 drug assessment.

Rosemarie Gittner, 25, of Arvada, Colo., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of more than 10 grams, but less than 30 grams, of cannabis with intent to deliver, a Class 4 felony, and was placed on section 410 probation for 24 months. Gittner was also ordered to pay a mandatory $500 drug assessment and a fine of $1,153, complete drug and alcohol treatment, and serve four days in jail.

Juan Gonzalez, 37, of Morris, pleaded guilty to criminal sexual abuse, a Class 4 felony, and served 221 days in jail. Gonzalez was ordered to obtain a sex offender evaluation, complete treatment, and serve a period of 30 months of reporting probation. Gonzalez must register as a sex offender.

Magan Murrell, 21, of Oroville, Calif., pleaded guilty to unlawful possession of more than 2,000 grams, but less than 5,000 grams, of cannabis, a Class 2 felony, and was sentenced to three years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. Murrell was also ordered to pay a $1,000 drug assessment and surrender his FOID card and firearms.

Joseph Van Cleave, 20, of Morris, pleaded guilty to residential burglary, a Class 1 felony, and was sentenced to four years in the Illinois Department of Corrections with a boot camp recommendation. He also pleaded guilty to five counts of forgery, all Class 3 felonies, and was sentenced to 30 months of probation to begin upon completion of his prison sentence in the residential burglary case, and was ordered to successfully complete the Grundy County Drug Court program.
