Died: Aug. 15, 2013

LAKELAND, Fla. — Mrs. Marjorie L. Scaman, 95, of Lakeland, Fla., and formerly of Morris, passed away Thursday evening, August 15, 2013, at the home of her daughter, Joan Hoge.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 22, at Fruland Funeral Home, 121 W. Jefferson St., Morris, with Pastor Steven Lombardo II officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Visitation will be Thursday, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. 

Born July 9, 1918, in Morris, she was the daughter of George and Gertrude (Williams) Hansen.

She received her education in the schools of Morris and attended Morris High School.

Marjorie married Albert H. Scaman on July 6, 1940, in Joliet, and they lived all of their married life in Morris.

She was employed at Jim and Jean’s Clothing Store, the Morris Daily Herald, and the Morris Paper Mill.

Survivors include one son, Richard (Faye )Scaman of Morris; three daughters, Judith Hausken Zink (Philip) of Morris, Joan (William) Hoge of Lakeland, Fla., and Joyce Riley of Morris; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Betty Olson of Morris; one brother, Harold Hansen of Pennsylvania; two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Hansen and Wanda Jean Hansen, both of Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Albert, on Jan. 11, 1993; one grandson, Douglas Hausken on Feb. 28, 2005; two great-granddaughters, Hannah Bartels and Shelby Smith; one son-in-law, Richard Hausken, on March 26, 2006; four brothers, George, Lowell, Donald and James Hansen; and two sisters, Ruth Brancato and Norma Olson.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, and spending time with her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
