Two candidates for Illinois governor and a newly appointed state representative headlined the Kendall County Republican Central Committee’s annual Family Picnic and Pig Roast on Aug. 24, at the Kendall County Fairgrounds.
Local Republicans were joined by two gubernatorial candidates in Treasurer Dan Rutherford and businessman Bruce Rauner, who addressed the crowd of over 300.
11th District Congressional candidates Rep. Darlene Senger and Grundy County Board member Chris Balkema, candidate for Attorney General Paul Schimpf and newly appointed state Rep. John Anthony of the 75th legislative district also spoke.
In addition to the pig roast, there were pony rides, duck pull, balloon animals, games and Oberweis ice cream. A softball game between State’s Attorney Eric Weis and Dwight Baird for Sheriff was also a huge draw prior to the picnic.
