Ottawa on Stage to produce 'Steel Magnolias'

OTTAWA — Ottawa on Stage, a new local theatrical production company, will present the comedy-drama “Steel Magnolias” at 7 p.m. Sept. 27 and 28, and 3 p.m. Sept. 29, on the second floor of the 807 Building, located at 807 La Salle Street in Ottawa.

Written by Robert Harling, “Steel Magnolias” is about the bond among a group of Southern women in northwest Louisiana. After the death of his sister, Harling was inspired to write the play, which embodies his words, “Females are as delicate as magnolias, but tough as steel.”

Although best known for its movie version starring Dolly Parton and Julia Roberts, the 1987 stage play is still popular today and has frequent productions mounted throughout the United States.

“Steel Magnolias is a timeless play that resonates with everyone and is such a pleasure to produce for the area as our inaugural production in Ottawa,” said Kris Pagoria, president and creative director for PR Productions, the theatrical company to which Ottawa on Stage belongs.

Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for seniors. Tickets are available for purchase at or by calling 888-395-0797.

Ottawa on Stage is part of the PR Productions family. PR Productions is a theatrical production company focused on producing high-quality productions in various venues throughout Northern and North-Central Illinois. Ottawa on Stage will continue with various theatrical productions in Ottawa throughout 2013, with a full 2014 performance schedule to be released soon.
