Kendall County Sheriff’s deputies Monday morning responded to a reported threat at Cross Lutheran Church in the 8600 Block of Illinois 47, Yorkville, in unincorporated Kendall County.

By 1:30 p.m., however, deputies working with representatives of nearby agencies with explosive detection canines, cleared the church and school after finding no explosive devices.

According to a press release, an official at the school housed at Cross Lutheran answered a telephone call in which a threat mentioning something being “blown up” was made.

The threat prompted an immediate response and, as a precaution, all students were evacuated. They were released to their parents on scene.

"It doesn’t appear that there is a credible threat, however we are being overly cautious for obvious reasons," noted an official with the sheriff's department prior to the completion of the canine sweep.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office is currently investigating. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kendall County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at (630) 553-7500, ext. 1107.
