Morris golf defeats LaSalle-Peru

The Morris golf team captured a Northern Illinois Big 12 crossover win at home against LaSalle-Peru on Monday, defeating the Cavaliers by a 162-181 score.

Trevor Lines had the low round for the Redskins. He ended up shooting a 38. Nick McPherson also added a 40 and Justin Larsen a 41.

At the JV level, Morris lost to L-P 174-178.

Low scores for the Redskins came from: Jake Hulbert (42), Kyle Jacobson (43) and Shain Hennessy (46).

Dwight 171,

Streator Woodland 199

Playing at the par-36 Dwight Country Club, the Trojans prevailed behind the medalist efforts of Karsten Kopmann (40).

Also scoring for Dwight were: Nathan Folkers (43), Ryan Folkers (43), Bryca Mortensen (45) and Andy Froelich (49).

At the JV level, Dwight scored a 209 and was led by Devin Connelly’s 48.

Matt Eike had two goals and James Bowen had a goal and two assists in the loss.

GRADE SCHOOL

Ottawa Shepard 4

Coal City handed Shepard its first loss of the season behind the pitching of Sean Micetich and Blake Harseim.

At the plate, Austin Friddle hit a two-run home run in the first inning and then added two more doubles and five more RBIs. Carter Copes and Kaleb Spreitzer had two hits and two RBI each. Beau Wills reached base three times and scored three runs.

Gillian Culbreth was the winning pitcher, striking out six in the victory.

At the plate, Lyda Robinson was 4-for-4, Morgan Pifer had three hits, including two doubles and two RBI and Taylor Bushman had three hits, including a double, and two RBI.
