MORRIS, Ill. – Mrs. Kimberly A. (Slivka) Wiers, 43, of Morris, Ill., passed away unexpectedly at home Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013.

Born Dec. 5, 1969, in Naperville, Ill., the daughter of Joseph and Roberta (Rogers) Slivka, Kim was raised and educated in Newark, Ill., graduating from Newark High School with the Class of 1988. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Northern Illinois University.

Kim taught for eight years at Shabbona Middle School. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minooka.

Kimberly was a loving and devoted mother to her children; her greatest joy was raising them. She was always at every child’s event; if not watching them, she was volunteering.

Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Dave Wiers. Kim was the loving mother to Tyler, Tanya and Tori Thorson, and Jordan, Jaelyn and Jax Wiers. She is also survived by her parents, Joseph and Roberta Slivka; a sister, Tami (Scott) Fuchs; two brothers, Joe (Jennifer) Slivka and Greg (fiancée, Rachel Sleezer) Slivka; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Tanya Slivka, and her maternal and paternal grandparents.

The visitation will be at the U.C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, 301 W. Washington St., Morris, from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Prayers will be said at 9:15 a.m. Thursday morning in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Minooka, with Father Bill Dewan officiating.

Interment will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Morris, immediately following the service.

Memorials to her children’s education will be appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the U. C. Davis-Callahan Funeral Home, Morris..
