Seattle Sutton's adds registered dietitian

FIcek will be lead nutrition expert for the Healthy Eating brand

OTTAWA – Seattle Sutton’s Healthy Eating, provider of freshly prepared weekly meal deliveries nationwide, has added registered dietitian Rene Ficek to its full-time staff. 

Ficek received a bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from Southern Illinois University (Carbondale) in 2006. In 2010, she earned her registered dietitian and licensed dietitian nutritionist certifications, and in 2012 she became a certified diabetes educator.

Ficek will be the lead nutrition expert and representative for the brand. In this capacity, she oversees menu development and compliance with USDA and FDA dietary regulations. 

Her responsibilities also include keeping the company updated on current nutrition information and interaction with SSHE clients by responding to questions and providing nutrition education to them.

“We are thrilled to have Rene on board,”  company founder Seattle Sutton said. “Her strong nutrition background, paired with her excellent palate, is just what we need to round out the SSHE team and to ensure and expand on the continuance of quality and excellence in the freshly prepared meals we offer to our clients. “Great food and good health are not mutually exclusive, in fact they work hand-in-hand,” Ficek said.

SSHE meals are constantly evolving to keep menus exciting in flavor, variety and appearance. The plans provide three meals per day, seven days per week.

That translates into more than 100 meals on a five week rotation; no meal is repeated within the five weeks.

And as food trends change and evolve, she explains, it’s important to make sure these trends are reflected in our meals.

Ficek is very excited about the recent launch of the SSHE vegetarian menu, a 1,500-calorie-per-day meatless meal plan, which adds a vegetarian option to the traditional meals at 1,200 and 2,000 calories per day that have always been offered.

“This is just one more example of how attuned the company is to their clients’ needs. They spoke, SSHE listened,” Ficek said.
