PRINCETON — Grab your lederhosen and drindls for the Oktoberfest celebration at Bureau County Fairgrounds on Saturday.

This event will feature German music, food and beer. Doors will open at 4 p.m., with food service beginning at 5 p.m. and continuing until 8 p.m. or until it’s all gone.

Terry Bredenberg will play the accordion during abendessen (evening dinner) from 4 to 7 p.m. He will be wearing traditional German bundhosen, a Tyrolean hat and Edelweiss suspenders. He will be playing traditional German tunes plus some American favorites.

The meals will include either pork schnitzel, bratwurst or a pork chop, plus German potato salad, red cabbage, sauerkraut and spaetzle with gravy. Meals are $10. Also available will be desserts, including strudel, apple cake and German chocolate cake.

Four different kinds of beer will be available, including Beck’s Oktoberfest, Bent River Uncommon Stout and Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat. Wine, pop and coffee will also be available.

The German Band Die Musikmeisters will play from 6 to 10 p.m. The band’s repertoire includes German polkas, waltzes, marches and dance music, as well as a variety of American favorites.

Die Musikmeisters play such favorites as Edelweiss, Liechtensteiner Polka, Beer Barrel Polka, The Happy Wanderer, Auf Wiedersehn, Ein Prosit, E-I-E-I-O polka and many more songs.

Die Musikmeisters sing in German and English and even play a few tunes on the cowbells.
