Morris needs more yield signs to save time, gas

Published: Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2013 5:30 a.m. CDT

To the Editor:

Morris has a number of two-way and four-way intersections not so marked on the stop signs. There are no warning signs of a stop sign ahead. The result is traffic accidents. Why are there no “yield” signs? Possibly 99 percent of the time a complete stop is a waste of time and fuel.

Why should through streets like Jackson and Lisbon have any stop signs except where they intersect? A main street with a stop sign is not normally anticipated; the predictable result again is accidents. Police records should support these recommendations.

P. S. City lighting might more appropriately be turned on at dusk, not noon or 4 p.m.
