Agnes Rose McComb, 90, of Verona, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2013, at Morris Hospital.
Born June 24, 1923, Agnes was a daughter of the late Louis and Frances Feltenz-Buffo. During the Depression, Agnes hauled coal with her father, and on Dec. 17, 1940, she married Wayne McComb. Agnes was a homemaker and farmer’s wife her entire married life, and helped her husband as a dairy herdsman for 40 years. Agnes was a member of Grundy and LaSalle County HEA for over 40 years, and enjoyed her garden and produce by canning it’s bounty.
She was an avid bowler, enjoyed the outdoors and cherished her family.
Survivors include her sons, Wayne L. (Judith) McComb of Morris, Ill., Kenneth (Rebecca) McComb of St. Anne, Ill., George McComb of Verona and Mike Hoover, who was like a son to Agnes; three grandsons, Jeff McComb, Douglas McComb and Jason McComb; four great-grandchildren, Joshua, Meghan, Alex and Lucas; two sisters, Mary Buffo and Grace Hatch, both of Braidwood, Ill.; and many nieces and nephews.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Frances Buffo; husband, Wayne George McComb; and one brother, Dominic Buffo.
The visitation and video tribute will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at Reeves Funeral Home, 408 E. Washington St. (one block east of Illinois Route 47) in Morris. The family will then again receive friends Saturday morning, Nov. 2, at Saint Patrick Catholic Church, 176 W. Union St. in Seneca, from 9 a.m. until the time of the 10 a.m. service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated with the Rev. Ray Guthrie officiating.
Interment will follow in Braceville-Gardner Cemetery and honorary pallbearers will be Jeff McComb, Douglas McComb, Jason McComb, Mike Hoover, John Trewartha, Bob Bates and Tom Coleman.
