MORRIS – Starting next week, Morris Hospital will offer various health screenings the second Wednesday of each month.
Anyone can participate in Wellness Wednesdays by choosing from the offerings and calling to schedule an appointment.
“Early detection screenings are a great way to find out if there are any underlying issues that require further follow up, before something devastating occurs,” Leigh Anne Hall, wellness manager at Morris Hospital & Healthcare Centers, said in a news release from the hospital.
“This is all about taking steps toward living a longer, healthier life by taking responsibility for our personal health.”
• A $40 peripheral artery disease, or PAD, screening, which uses ultrasound technology to identify blockages in the arm and leg arteries.
• A $35 Heart Healthy screening checks total cholesterol, LDL and HDL cholesterol, triglycerides, and glucose for type 2 diabetes.
• A $20 Heart Smart screening that includes everything in the Heart Healthy screening except triglycerides.
• A $50 Vitamin D screening. Not enough Vitamin D in the blood can lead to weak and soft bones, while too much Vitamin D can damage bones, soft tissue and kidneys.
Results will be available within a week of each screening, Hall said in the news release, and participants are encouraged to share the results with their physician. Insurance will not be billed for the screenings.
New screening offerings will be posted at www.morrishospital.org.
