Boy Scout Troop 476 participated in the Boy Scouts of America “Scouting for Food” nationwide food drive, and donated their collection to We Care of Grundy County.
The Scouts distributed paper grocery bags to their neighbors last week. The bag was preprinted with the following request: “Please fill this bag and place it on your porch by noon on Sunday, Nov. 10th. We will be back to pick it up then.”
“The needs are especially high right now due to the decrease in food stamp allocations that many of our clients are experiencing,” We Care’s Executive Director Denise Gaska said in a news release. “Typically, We Care serves about 200 families from our food pantry on a monthly basis. Recently, however, those numbers have jumped to over 300 families per month. We are very grateful for the time and effort that Boy Scout Troop 476 and their parents dedicated to helping their neighbors in need of food.”
