Charles Earl Canisius

Charles Earl Canisius, 64, of Godley, Ill., passed away suddenly Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013, at his home.

He was born May 14, 1949, in Oak Park, Ill., to the late Carl and Adel Canisius. Charles recently retired from Northrop Grumman in Rolling Meadows, following 30 years of employment.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served in Vietnam, and a member of the VFW Post 5422 in Wilmington, AMVETS and the Northrop Grumman Motorcycle Club.

Surviving are his wife, Ellen (nee Jensen), whom he married Sept. 3, 1994, in Tinley Park, Ill.; his daughter, Cheryl (Larry) Stubitsch of Naperville, Ill.; stepson, Brian Lee (Cassie) Jensen of Park Forest, Ill.; six grandchildren, Brian Jr., Nancy, Gina, Reina, Larry and Mia; two sisters, Carol (Wally) Groeger of Arizona and Karen Hughes of Spokane, Wash.; brother-in-law, Robert Jensen of Tinley Park; sister-in-law, Roberta Jensen of Matteson, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.

The visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at R.W. Patterson Funeral Homes, Ltd. & Crematory, Braidwood Chapel, 401 E. Main St., Braidwood, Ill. Funeral services will be private. Interment with military honors will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts in his name may be directed to Wounded Warriors or Samaritan’s Purse.
