Jewish Congregation’s potluck 7 p.m. today

JOLIET – The Joliet Jewish Congregation, 250 N. Midland Ave., Joliet, is holding a dairy potluck at 7 p.m. today, with services beginning at 6 p.m.

The fourth- and fifth-grade Sunday school classes will assist Rabbi Rubovits with family services.

Support for military men and women at St. Mary’s

PLAINFIELD – On the third Friday of each month, St. Mary Immaculate Parish devotes an hour to pray silently for those who wear a military uniforms.

The next one will be at 6 p.m. today in the St. Mary Immaculate Adoration Chapel.

Peace Lutheran holding pancake breakfast

MORRIS – Peace Lutheran Church, 101 Candlelight Lane, Morris, is holding a pancake breakfast and silent auction starting at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

All funds raised by the event will be used to purchase gifts and food for We Care families this holiday season.

Breakfast includes pancakes, sausage and other breakfast treats, for a free-will donation. The event is being organized by the fourth- through sixth-grade Sunday school classes.

The event follows the 9 a.m. worship service.

West Lisbon hosting Billy Graham event

NEWARK – West Lisbon Church will be showing a special message from Billy Graham during the worship service at 10:30 a.m. Sunday. Graham has preached the good news of Jesus Christ around the world for more than 60 years and is turning 95 this month.

The community is invited to this special event. More than 25,000 churches have signed up to host “My Hope America” events, including some of the largest congregations in the country.

MORRIS – A free Thanksgiving dinner will be offered from 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Apostolic Church, 118 E. Jefferson, Morris. A worship service will be held at 3 p.m. The Rev. is J.D. Hill.

MORRIS – A celebration will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at the Quality Inn, 200 Gore Road, Morris, for the House of Glory for All Nations’ and the Rev. Esther’s eight-year anniversary. ‘A Night in Bethlehem’ set for Dec. 1 in Morris

The First Presbyterian Church of Morris, 200 E. Jackson, invites the community to experience “A Night in Bethlehem” from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

This Family-Oriented activity features a Living Nativity, Make and Take Crafts, and a tour of the “Little Town.”

Breakfast with St. Nick set for Dec. 7 in Joliet

JOLIET – St. Paul the Apostle Catholic School is hosting a breakfast with St. Nicholas from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 7 at 130 N. Woodlawn Ave., Joliet.

Terry Lynch, a professional actor from Histories for Kids Presents, will perform “The Legend of St. Nicholas,” a one-man show, at 9 a.m.

A photo opportunity with St. Nicholas will follow the presentation. Children 5 and younger are free; there is a $5 admission for those 6 and older. A full breakfast is included.

United Methodist Thrift Shop holding sale

CHANNAHON – The Channahon United Methodist Church – Thrift Shop, 24751 W. Eames, Channahon, is holding a 10-cent sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dec. 12 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Dec. 16.

This will be the last days the thrift shop will be open before the holidays. The shop is set to re-open Jan. 9.

holding cookie walk

CHANNAHON – United Methodist Women of Channahon United Methodist Church, 24751 W. Eames, Channahon, is hosting its ninth annual UMW Cookie Walk starting at 9 a.m. Dec. 14.

The event will continue until the cookies are gone. Cost is $12.50 a bucket, which holds approximately 2 pounds.
