Dorothy Jean DeLockery

Dorothy Jean DeLockery (Do), 89, passed peacefully from this earth Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, in Naperville, Ill., where she had been residing since 2006 after living in Morris, Ill., for 84 years.

Born Sept. 19, 1924, in Morris, she was the daughter of Merton G. and Marie (Lyon) Freeland. She graduated from Morris High School in 1942 and married Willard (Red) L. DeLockery that same year.

They had three sons, including Dennis, David and Douglas, while living at 1037 Lisbon St. until 2006 when they relocated to be closer to their son, Dennis, in Naperville.

Dorothy worked for the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and the State of Illinois Correctional Department.

She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary, serving as president, and was most proud of her grandchild Sheleen’s success as an educator.

Survivors include her son, Dennis and daughter-in-law, Karen (Felton) DeLockery; granddaughter, Sheleen; sister and brother-in-law, Betty (Freeland) and Dale Edmunds; sister-in-law, Ethel (Hieny) DeLockery; nieces, Linda (Connor) Smoron, Beth (Connor) Malarz, Lisa (Edmunds) Hulme, Debra (DeLockery) Ness; and nephews, Gary DeLockery, Gregory Connor and John Edmunds.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Willard; parents, Merton and Marie; sons, David and Douglas; father-in-law, William DeLockery; mother-in-law, Eloise DeLockery; brother, Gerald (Virginia) Freeland; brother-in-law, Leroy DeLockery; brother-in-law, Thomas (Inez) DeLockery; sister-in-law, Ameta (Joseph) Connor; and nieces, Susan (DeLockery) Heap and Janice Delockery.

Interment will be private at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morris.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in memory of David and Douglas DeLockery would be most appreciated.
