BRIEF: Pontiac school chief seeks leave amid probe

PONTIAC — Pontiac elementary school district Superintendent Kevin Lipke has asked to be on a leave of absence while Illinois State Police look into an accusation of improper conduct against him.

The agenda for tonight's school board meeting lists votes on accepting his request and appointing an interim superintendent. The board will meet at 7 p.m. at the board offices, 117 W. Livingston St., Pontiac.
School board President Stacey Shrewsbury declined to comment Wednesday night.

According to a statement by Pontiac police, there is an accusation against Lipke of improper conduct, but he is not accused of any criminal wrongdoing so far and the public is not in danger. The investigation was transferred to the Illinois State Police because the police department has a resource officer assigned to the district.

Lipke replaced Steve Graham as superintendent on July 1, 2012, and is scheduled to make $121,412 this year. He is in the second year of a three-year contract.
