Church to host House Walk tea event Saturday

Published: Monday, Nov. 25, 2013 10:29 p.m. CDT

Immaculate Conception Church is pleased to be hosting this year’s holiday tea from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. The annual house walk and tea are part of the Home for the Holidays festivities, which in the past have raised funds for the Grundy Community Hospice, Morris Downtown Beautification and local scholarships.

The tea is a must for those who would like a relaxing break from visiting the homes and downtown shopping. The Holiday Tea Committee has been busy transforming the church into a “Winter Wonderland.” Fresh evergreens will adorn the windows and tables and Christmas trees twinkling with white lights will provide a tranquil ambiance.

Church members have been busy baking goodies, including fudge, lemon cookies, gingerbread and shortbread to name a few. Cookies will be served with tea donated by local retailer, “The Birds and the Teas.”

A variety of piano, instrumental and vocal entertainment will be provided by students of Jill Kopczick, Brandolino School of Music, Brent Mitchell, Lauren Haskin as well as several high school band students.

The tea will be located in the St. Angela Room of the Immaculate Conception School, 505 E. North St. Guests are asked to use the east entrance.

A small portion of the proceeds of the housewalk are donated to the church, which in turn will donate the funds to St. Vincent DePaul Society to provide rent, utilities, furniture and other assistance to those in need.

Tickets for the house walk and tea will be available at the church. The cost of a ticket is $15 and includes a 25 percent off coupon for select merchandise at participating stores.
